Luxury villas for large groups on the Costa Brava

Renting a whole estate for 10–15 guests is a different exercise from booking a holiday home. Here is what actually matters — and where to look near Girona and Golf Peralada.

For a large group, the right answer is rarely a hotel. Once you pass eight or ten people, hotels scatter you across floors, common areas are shared with strangers, and the sense of a single shared holiday disappears. A private villa rented exclusively for your group solves this — but on the Costa Brava the supply of genuinely large, genuinely luxurious estates is thin. This guide explains what to prioritise.

What counts as a "large group" villa?

In practical terms, a large-group luxury villa sleeps 12 to 16 guests in en-suite bedrooms, with living and dining space sized for everyone to eat together. The en-suite detail matters more than people expect: with three generations of a family or a group of couples, shared bathrooms are the first thing that erodes the experience.

The seven things that actually matter

PriorityWhy it matters for groups
En-suite bedroomsPrivacy and comfort across couples, families and generations
Whole-estate exclusivityNo shared spaces, no neighbours, no fixed schedules
Large communal areasEveryone dines, relaxes and celebrates together
Outdoor space & poolsThe default gathering point in a Mediterranean summer
On-site entertainmentKeeps the group together at night without leaving the property
Gated privacy & parkingSecurity and ease for a group arriving in several cars
Concierge / local supportOne point of contact for chefs, transfers and activities

Where to base a large group on the Costa Brava

The Alt Empordà, at the northern end of the Costa Brava around Peralada and Figueres, is the strongest base for a group that wants space, golf and the coast without the crowds of the southern resorts. From here the beaches of Cap de Creus and Cadaqués are 15–30 minutes away, the Dalí Museum and Figueres around 10–12 minutes, and Barcelona roughly 90 minutes — close enough for arrivals, far enough for calm.

It is also where you find estates built around golf: Villa Pax sits directly beside the fairways of Golf Peralada, which makes it a natural fit for mixed groups where some play and others want pool, spa and gastronomy.

How big can you realistically go?

Most "large" Costa Brava rentals top out around 10–12 guests. Estates that comfortably host 15 guests with eight en-suite bedrooms, two pools and dedicated entertainment space are rare — which is exactly the gap a property like Villa Pax fills, with a 1,600 m² estate, a private gym and a 250 m² private nightclub for celebrations.

The real luxury for a group is not a bigger room — it is everyone under one roof, with nothing shared and nowhere you have to be.

How booking usually works

For a large estate, expect a weekly, whole-villa booking rather than nightly rates, and a single concierge partner who arranges the stay. With Villa Pax, you send an enquiry and reservations are completed securely through Majordoms Peralada, the official booking partner, who confirm dates and coordinate services.
