Golf Peralada: the course, the hotel and where to eat
An 18-hole course threaded through cork oaks and lakes, a five-star hotel with a wine-inspired spa, and a Michelin-starred table inside a medieval castle — all within a few minutes of one another in Peralada.
Golf Peralada is the reason many groups come to this corner of the Alt Empordà. Set between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava, 10 to 12 minutes from Figueres, the club has an 18-hole course, a short course and a full practice area, with Hotel Peralada Wine Spa & Golf alongside. For planning the trip itself, see our guide to golf trips on the Costa Brava; this one goes deeper on the course, the hotel and where to eat.

The Peralada golf course: cork oaks, water and the Tramuntana
This is parkland golf rather than mountain golf: Peralada's tourist office describes a course that is not hilly, with lakes and trees, and suitable for all players. Cork oaks and water shape the holes golfers talk about afterwards:
- Hole 2 (par 4) — stroke index 1: out of bounds left, a small wood right and two large bunkers guarding the green.
- Hole 5 (par 4) — a dogleg left with an iconic cork oak growing in the middle of the fairway.
- Hole 9 (par 3) — water right of and behind the green; when the Tramuntana, the Empordà's famous north wind, is blowing, you may need a wood off the tee.
- Hole 15 (par 4) — the longest par 4, flanked by cork oak forest on both sides.
- Hole 18 (par 3) — a finish of up to 214 m, played from a tee on an island in a lake.
A European Tour pedigree
In 1995 Peralada hosted the European Tour's Heineken Open Catalonia, won by Ireland's Philip Walton — who later that year won a crucial singles match at Oak Hill as Europe took the Ryder Cup.
Playing Golf Peralada as a visitor
Tee times and green fees
Book green fees directly with the club — online through its official website, or by phone, email or WhatsApp. They are not included in a villa rental, so book well ahead for spring and autumn weekends.
Buggies, hire clubs and lessons
The club offers buggies, electric and hand trolleys, full sets of hire clubs and a pro shop, so travelling light is an option — reserve what you need when you book. Its golf school gives personalised lessons to beginners and experienced players.
When to play
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) bring warm, settled golfing weather. In July and August, take early tee times and save the afternoon for the pool.
Hotel Peralada Wine Spa & Golf
The course's neighbour is Hotel Peralada Wine Spa & Golf, a five-star, 64-room hotel on the golf course and part of the wider Peralada Resort, alongside the castle, winery, casino and festival. It holds one MICHELIN Key, the Michelin Guide's distinction for hotels.
The WineSpa (the hotel's spa)
The hotel's WineSpa is built around vinotherapy — treatments inspired by Peralada's wine tradition and the properties of the grape — with the El Celler water zone, a ritual space for couples, an outdoor pool and a gym. Hotel stays include 60 minutes in the water circuit. The spa belongs to the hotel, not to Villa Pax, and its website does not say whether non-residents can book treatments, so ask the hotel directly.
Hotel Peralada restaurants and bars
- L'Olivera — the hotel restaurant: contemporary cooking from chef Paco Pérez (whose Miramar in Llançà holds two MICHELIN stars), built on Empordà produce, with a terrace.
- The 19th — a relaxed wine bar pouring Empordà, Peralada and international wines with snacks. The name tells you when to go.
- Garden Bar — light, healthy plates in the hotel's poolside gardens.
Where to eat in Peralada beyond the hotel
The headline table is Restaurant Castell Peralada, inside the 14th-century castle, which holds one MICHELIN star in the 2026 guide. Chef Javier Martínez reinterprets recipes discovered in the castle's archives, and the cheese trolley runs to more than 50 varieties (see its Michelin Guide listing).
For something more relaxed, Celler 1923 Wine Bar at the Perelada winery pairs the house wines with traditional Catalan cooking, and the casino has its own Snack del Casino. The castle, cellars and casino have a guide of their own: Castell de Peralada, its wineries and casino.
Opening days change through the year, so check current opening times and book ahead — especially for weekend dinners.
Finish on the island tee of the 18th, raise a glass at the 19th, then dine inside a fourteenth-century castle — in Peralada, the whole golfing day stays close to home.
Why stay beside the course with a group
A hotel suits a couple. For friends or an extended family, a private estate on the course changes the rhythm of the week: the first tee, driving range, putting green and approach green are a two-minute walk away, and the non-golfers have a day of their own rather than a spare one.
Villa Pax sits right beside the fairways of Golf Peralada — eight en-suite bedrooms for up to 15 guests, two private pools, a private gym and a 250 m² private nightclub, with the whole estate reserved for your group. While the four-ball heads out, everyone else has the pools and the gym; in the evening, you meet again at L'Olivera or the castle. For the wider area, see things to do near Peralada.
